Tyre rotation service | Tyreland

Tyre rotation is vital to achieving even tread wear and long tread life. Rotation is necessary because of the uneven wear characteristics of each wheel position on the vehicle.

Different vehicles will wear their tyres at different rates. For example, a front-wheel drive car will wear its tyres very differently from a rear-wheel drive. Station wagons and utes – because of the lack of weight over the rear wheels – will also wear at varying rates.

One of the best ways you can look after your tyres is by rotating them regularly. Swapping the rear tyres to the front and vice-versa ensures that tyres wear evenly and last significantly longer. As a guide, tyres should be rotated every 5000 to 8000 km or every 6 months even if there is no sign of uneven wear.

All vehicles, including trailers, caravans and motorcycles, which are driven or towed on NSW roads, must be registered. To register your car for driving each year, the Roads and Maritime Services – the RMS, formerly the RTA, requires that you have it checked for roadworthiness by an authorised mechanic. This check is called a registration check (it’s also now known as an RMS vehicle safety check or a rego check).

You will get a ‘pink slip’ from the mechanic off the back of a successful registration check. This confirms that your car is safe to drive. The pink slip, together with the green slip from your preferred car insurance provider, will enable you to renew your vehicle registration for another 12 months.

Tyre Land is a registered RMS e-Safety station. This means we will automatically lodge your rego check inspection results with the RMS. It saves you the time of having to visit the RMS office in person.

Your wheel alignment is one of the key maintenance factors to ensure that you get the most economy and performance out of your tyres.

As well as compromising your vehicle’s safety, it can greatly increase tyre wear, which means it costs you money in the long run because you have to replace tyres well before you need to.

Regular wheel alignments provide safe, predictable vehicle control as well as a smooth and comfortable ride free of pulling and improved mileage.

You should have your wheel alignment checked every time you rotate your tyres – and, of course, when you replace them. If you think your wheels may be out of alignment, your vehicle’s steering doesn’t feel right, or even if it’s simply been a while, let our expert technician take a look.

Correct wheel balance on your car is very important. Unbalanced wheels can cause your tyres to wear prematurely, as well as causing accelerated wear of your shock absorbers, struts and steering components. All this can seriously affect your car’s overall performance.

Vibration through the steering wheel is a tell-tale sign that a wheel is out of balance. Tiny, but important, weights are used to counterbalance the heaviest part of the tyre and wheel assembly. If that weight becomes loose, the wheel will wobble – and the faster you’re travelling, the more it will wobble.

Our expert technicians can easily fix the problem ensuring your vehicle runs more smoothly and you have a vibration and noise free ride.

In case of a flat tyre, you must gradually slow down and come to a standstill on one side of the road. If you continue to drive, you can end up damaging your tyre and wheel or if travelling at speed be responsible for an accident. Most punctures, nail holes or cuts up to 6mm can be repaired by trained technicians, as long as the damage is confined to the tread.

A tyre must be thoroughly inspected before repair. Repair cannot go ahead if any of the conditions below are present:

Tread depth is below the legal limit of 1.6mm Compromised structural integrity Tread punctures are larger than 6mm Worn out, deteriorated rubber Any sign of previous faulty repairs

If you are uncertain about whether your car tyre should be repaired come and see one of our experts for advice.
